HVMS: Hardware and IT Requirements
2010 Update: Windows 2008 and Windows 7 are now supported by HVMS. Please note that SQL 2008 is NOT supported by HVMS - SQL 2005 is required for HVMS use. We provide two options for HVMS clients: purchase your own computer server and store it at your practice location, or utilize the Business Infusions hosted solution where we provide an off-site computer server for you. Option 1: Central Computer Server Hosted at Your LocationIf you wish to maintain control over your practice's server and data, then you can utilize a server set up by your IT staff at your location. The minimum requirements for a server are:

An important point to remember with hosting your own server, you will need to insure that the data on the server is backed up at another location. Option 2: Hosted Model - Central Computer Server Not RequiredIf you lack internal IT staff to properly service and maintain a hardware server, the Business Infusions Hosted Model is for you. We provide the server space for you, at our dedicated, secure off-site server location. All HVMS users then connect to your server via Internet connections. An added benefit of the Hosted Model is your data is automatically backed up - no need for any additional data backup costs. Internet ConnectionsHVMS utilizes internet connections for all Hosted Model clients, and for any HVMS users connecting from a location outside of the practice network where an on-site server is located. For this reason, you must have high-speed, reliable internet connections for HVMS to operate properly. Important Note: HVMS will not function properly through satellite internet connections. The time delay in information being transferred through satellite internet is too slow that if often results in database queries timing out. In particular, current satellite internet technology sees information upload rates that are about 1/10th the speed of download rates, much too slow for HVMS requirements. Tablet Hardware RequirementsHVMS is available for use on mobile tablets, allowing you to bring the power of the software out into the field with you. HVMS utilizes an internal computer network and reliable internet connections to properly operate. A central computer server is required to store an SQL database, which all HVMS user computers, laptops and tablets will utilize to connect to for sending and retrieving information and data.
